Mantle-yuck

Description

Good if you want to practice a couple of mantle sequences. Otherwise not worthwhile.

Start up right side of little wall and up past right side of tree. Walk up to the next (slightly taller) little wall. Up the right edge of that small wall up to right side of tree (without using the tree). Hike/scramble up the gully tending to its right side. Finish on small rock on top, up over its right half (with an absence of positive holds on top).

warning: Loose rock is still a concern here. Belayer or other members of party should not stand anywhere near underneath the climber.

. . . (Lots of vegetation on this rock as of 2016. Be prepared when climbing to navigate around protruding trees and branches, and dealing with holds slippery with grass, lichen, moss, dirt).

Location

Find the wide dirty gully which forms the left edge of the low left section of the main rock of Manayunk. Spot left-facing corner / wide crack on which forms left side of the top section of that gully. Look below left from that crack, and see small eight-foot high wall with pointy rock and big tree on right side of its top, on left side of lower part of gully. Below that at left side of bottom of gully is a little six feet high wall with another tree on top.

Protection

For ideas how to set up Top-Rope, see description of this Manayunk sector.

Protection for Trad leading is unknown and likely inadequate.
