Peak Mountain 3

East Couloir

FA Dick Beach and Dave King, 1974
CREATED
UPDATED

Description

The prominent East Couloir of Basin Mountain rises approximately 2,000 feet to a saddle, at which point a 4th class/low 5th class scramble to the Northwest will gain the summit.

Location

Approach the col using an old jeep trail. You can't miss the col, it can be seen from the Buttermilks main area.

Protection

Roping up with a leader may give confidence to a climber inexperienced on snow. Bring a light rock rack if you are uncomfortable soloing low 5th class rock.
