Southwest Ridge

There is no specific crux on these 4th class ridge routes. You can dial up plenty of 5th class moves if you want, or avoid them to keep it easy. This is a nice route on solid rock. Return the way you came.

One way or another, find you way to Feather Pass (12,360ft). The route from there is obvious. Pick your poison and stay on the ridge as much as you feel comfortable with. Best done as part a loop of some sort. I was doing 7 day trip out of North Lake up over Puppet, Italy and thru Bear Lakes and on up to Feather Pass. Taking a break to do this climb was a nice change of pace. By the time I got down to Merriam Lake, the mosquitoes had arrived in a big way.

No need to pitch out this kind of route.
