MapDescription

One of the most common scrambles up Black Kaweah, from the base lake to the SW. Doable in a very long day from Mineral King. A backpacking trip over Kaweah Gap would be an enjoyable 3 day trip. The chute is quite obvious from the base lake and the route contains quite a bit of loose rock, since the Kaweahs are comprised of mostly metamorphic rock. A classic, remote summit, with views of the entire central Sierra.
Location
A clean line of a gully on the SW face, visible from the SW base lake just below 11,600'.
Some research online and on Summit Post will provide some good beta.
Protection
A helmet and expert scrambling skills. Novice parties may want to rope up in a few sections.
