North Ridge

Description

This is a fantastic scramble. It is definitely trickier than the south ridge. Most of the scrambling is class 3-4 until progress is impeded by gendarmes. While we believe the ridge can be kept at a stiff fourth class, we did pull a few isolated moves up to 5.4ish.

For maximum enjoyment, we recommend descending via the south ridge for a total of nearly 2 miles of fun 4th/low 5th scrambling, with amazing views.

Note: I am guessing that this scramble is grade III from a camp near Big Wet Meadow. It is a 19+ mile hike to get to the peak.

Location

We took the Colby Pass trail to where it meets the north ridge. The best part about this route, especially when compared with

Jonah's Joy

, is that the routefinding is extremely easy.

Protection

None. Scramble away!
