Black Bawl

There are two climbs that face west at the Wailing Wall. This climb is the one on the right, and is the easier of the two. Begin by clipping a bolt off the ground right in the middle of a bulge. Pull the bulge by stemming and clip a second bolt. Continue straight up over good holds and clip a third bolt on steep rock. Climb up and to the left passing two more bolts and some fossils on easier rock before reaching the top.

There are two ways to access this climb: 1) Gain the traverse ledge and descend the gully in the middle of the amphitheater, as you descend, you will beable to see the climb straight ahead. 2) As you approach the Wailing Wall from the Rim Trail, you will come to a lookout point with a large boulder on it. On the west side of this boulder are two sets of bolted anchors. Either one of these can be used to set up a toprope and rappell down the climb.
