Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee

Description

The eye-catching open book dihedral on the north side of Flowing Springs Road. While it's relatively short, all of the climbing on this rig is quality. A nice handcrack pinches down to fingerlocks and a great stance where you can place 2,3, maybe even 4 5 or 6 pieces of gear before heading into the boulder problem crux.

Stem and crimp your way through the exciting and slightly dangerous blank section to the enjoyable finish.

2 bolt rap anchor at the top.

The name comes from the famous book by Dee Brown

Location

Park at the west end of the Flowing Springs Rd Campground pullout. You'll see a sign that says 'No Dumping', etc....hike NW past this sign towards the south facing cliff. Contrive a way across the creek which may or may not be several feet deep. The climb is the obvious open book dihedral straight above two large boulders embedded on the north side of the creek. Approach is steep and loose, less than 5 minutes.

Protection

Single Rack BD #.2-#3, very optional #5

2 bolt rap anchor
