Description

Acidification is a 3-pitch outing that climbs through the lower tier of rock called The Coral.

P1. 5.10a. Climb the black water streak through 3 bolts to a hand crack in a roof (#1 or #2 Camalot), then finish with an optional #0.75 Camalot before the ledge and bolted anchor. The opening moves are the crux.

P2. 5.9. Continue above the anchor on a slab, and mantel onto a bushy ledge. Investigate the crack above, and exit right under the large roof to ledge and bolted anchor.

P3. 5.8. Relocate the belay just left of a large, dead, standing tree. Climb up through a mini-roof, and follow cracks as they trend up and right. You are now standing on a large ledge system with evergreen trees below the feature called The Wave.

NOTE: a variation to pitch 2 angles right from the anchor and is called Cleaning the Coral at 5.7.

Location

Follow approach beta and photo info for the Wild Ridge area. This is approximately 80 yards to the right of the

El Diablo de Oro

start. In The Coral Zone, locate a black water streak and the 1st bolt.

Protection

P1: 3 bolts, a #1 or #2 Cam, and a #0.75 for the finish. P2 & P3 a single rack with nuts should suffice.
