Asylum Crack
Description
This great problem is kinda like an easier version of the mega-classic dragonfly. Longer and just as steep, this lacks the difficult footholds and challenging topout of dragonfly, allowing the moderate grade. This would be a classic if it wasn't so difficult not too hit your back, and take an unintentional rest on the boulder behind you half way up.
Start low to the ground on good holds at the lower level. Lieback your way up, being careful not to dab on the boulder behind at the 10 foot mark. A little above the crux is encountered on smaller holds, but with good feet. Hang on and reach the huge jugs above allowing an easy topout. It is easy to step off onto the upper boulder if things get too scary.
To descend, head left from the top of the problem, through an easy but kinda tricky to find downclimb, and work your way back to the start.
Location
Follow the main Asylum trail. It leads right by Asylum Crack the obvious left leaning crack, about 25 feet to the right of the trail.
There are several nice pictographs to look for in the area, if you like that sort of thing.
Protection
Nice to have several pads and at least two spotters to protect both the upper and lower levels.
